Tacna
Tacna is the most meriodional city in Peru, it is located 1,293 Kms. south of Lima and at an elevation of 568 meters above sea level and it has an estimated population of 100,000 inhabitants.
Historically Tacna played a key role in the Independence from Spain in the 19th century.
Tacna also has a train that connects it with the city of Arica in Chile
Tacna has many beaches and scenery of great beauty in its high andean areas, like Tarata, Candarave and Calientes, famous for their hot springs and geysers. Other pleces of interest are the Ite Wetlands, the Aricota lake, and the Tutupaca and Yucamani volcanoes.
Being a Duty Free Zone has trranformed Tacna in a hub of commercial activity.
