The city of Puno is located 1,324 Kms. south of Lima and at 3, 827 meters above sea level, it has an estimated populaton of 125,000 inhabitants.

The city is located on the shores of Lake Titicaca , the highest navigable lake in the world. Among its islands, like Taquile, Uros, Amantani and Anapia, still live communities that mantain their ancestry very much alive.In the community of Llachón one can do rural tourism.

Puno was craddle a various precolumbian cultures, being Pucara one of the most important. Of its colonial past we can see fine examples in churches like Lampa, Juli and Pomata.

Among its many festivities de Virgen de la Candelaria is the most important, it is celebrated in February each year.

Besides Lake Titicaca National Reserve, Puno has many other natural beauties like the Tinajani Canyon and its Puya Raimondi forests.
