PERU IS NEW LATIN AMERICAN BOOM, ACCORDING TO EL MERCURIO
(ANDINA).- A news article about Peru and its current economic position as well as cultural and historic features has been published in the Sunday supplement of Chilean newspaper El Mercurio.
According to the report, Peru is living a unique moment: its economy grows nearly at 10 percent annually, its exports soar and the international media praises its new writers.
"Travel magazines recommend its charms, from the wild Amazonas to the refined Limean cuisine," the Sunday suplement says.
The six-page article also talks about the latest boom of the “cumbia”, which is listened and danced both in popular and chic neighborhoods. This music breaks sales record and a symbol of this fashion is the “Grupo 5”, a popular cumbia band in Peru.
In addition, it mentions that Lima, Peru's capital, is experiencing a property boom, like Caracas and Bogota, but where price per square meter has jumped in recent years.
The article says there is also a literary boom, and that this recognition comes from important media sources such as London's The Guardian or The New York Times which praise the work of young Peruvian writers and note the existence of "many or more" independent publishers than in Buenos Aires.
